COSD FULL ACCESS Student Summit for Career Exploration

November 18-19, 2016

Hyatt Regency Cambridge, MA

Purpose:  FULL ACCESS brings together up to sixty invited and pre-screened college students or recent alumni with disabilities and ten select employers for a networking and education summit.

Who are the Students?  Up to 60 current students or recent graduates of colleges and universities generally in the New England region, who represent a variety of disciplines.  The students include sophomores through post-doctoral degrees and many of the older students and alumni have significant life experience.

The objectives of the FULL ACCESS Student Summit for Career Exploration are:

  1. Provide in-depth understanding of college students with disabilities about their internships, job searches and career issues, increasing effectiveness in self-advocacy and self-esteem and achieving of career goals;

  2. Provide diverse employers, across a variety of sectors, with a pipeline to talent, as well as insights into attitudes and issues faced by college students with disabilities as they prepare to graduate and enter the workplace;

FULL ACCESS – What it is not:  FULL ACCESS is very different from a traditional career fair and not an opportunity to conduct interviews with individual students.  There is no expectation of a job offer.

Who Should Attend?  HR, Diversity, Disability Specialists, Campus Recruiting or Line / Hiring Managers.

Student Resume Book:  An electronic package of all student resumes will be sent to employers two weeks before the Summit. Every attempt will be made by COSD to encourage students who will be attending to have their resumes reviewed or improved through their home campus Career Services offices.  However, some resumes will not be optimal, but this is an opportunity for a “teaching moment” by the employers.
