Mental Illness, A Silent Pandemic

When:  May 13, 2021 from 12:30 PM to 01:30 PM (ET)
Mental Illness, A Silent Pandemic

NOD, working with Mental Health America, will discuss growing concerns about mental illness in the workplace. Mental illness is the most common type of disability, one in four of us will experience it at some point. The social isolation, fears about the future and uncertainty about jobs brought about by COVID, is driving those numbers up.

Yet mental illness is also the most stigmatized disability. While prevention and treatment can be relatively inexpensive, the first step must be disclosure. We will talk about what employers can do to foster an environment of trust, in which everyone with a mental illness feels safe to self-ID. And we’ll discuss what employers can do to help people get the help they need.

Mental Health America (MHA) - founded in 1909 - is the nation’s leading community-based nonprofit dedicated to addressing the needs of those living with mental illness and to promoting the overall mental health of all Americans.
