DE Masterclass Employment Law Roundtable | A Focus on the CROWN Act

DirectEmployers VP of Strategic Partnerships Shannon Offord will lead this 60-minute DE Masterclass Roundtable discussing HAIR. Not to be confused with the musical, this roundtable will cover the explosion of new state statutes protecting natural hair through newly minted statutes typically written as anti-discrimination statutes and typically referred to as “CROWN Acts” (“Create a Respectful and Open World for Natural Hair”) – now numbering twenty-six states and growing.

Shannon will be joined by Diana Smith, SPHR, SHRM SCP, Director of Human Resources at BronxWorks, who will speak from both a personal lens as an African American woman with ethnic hair, as well as a professional lens as a 20-year HR Executive in both the public and private sectors. DE employees Kim Lott and Yahaira Battiata will also join to share how they have struggled with and overcome their natural hair challenges as BIPOC women in the workplace.
