DirectEmployers Executive Director Candee Chambers will lead this 60-minute DE Masterclass Roundtable on Everything You Want To Know About Applicant and Employee Self-Identification. Candee will lead a practical discussion of how to effectively persuade applicants and employees to self-identify their race, sex, national origin, disability, and Protected Veterans’ statuses, efficacy of the use of “visual identification” vs. “self-identification,” where and how to store employee identification data, and what Protected Groups federal contractors should encourage to report.
She will be joined by Dave Pacheco, DirectEmployers Member, and EEO/Affirmative Action Officer at the University of Colorado Boulder, who will share his experience on visual ID, best practices, and its role within the university setting. In addition, OutSolve Sr. Consultant Becky Crowder will add her experience working with clients for over 25 years regarding voluntary self-id as it relates to EEO-1 and affirmative action planning.
John C. Fox, Esq., Partner, Fox, Wang & Morgan P.C. will also join the panel to frame the legal requirements limiting federal contractor discretion as to self-identification issues.
During this Masterclass, our panelists will share their perspectives on at least the following issues:
• Is “visual” ID acceptable?
• When during the selection may/must the federal contractor seek identification?
• How often should you ask employees to voluntarily report their disability(ies)?
• What information MUST a federal contractor collect in a Self-ID report?
• What information MAY a federal contractor collect and report (through either visual ID, or Self-ID tools)
o What are the “Protected Groups” a federal contractor is supposed to survey?
