Research indicates a significant overlap between LGBTQ+ identities and neurodivergence, with gender-diverse individuals being three to six times more likely to be autistic than cisgender individuals. This intersection creates unique challenges and experiences, often referred to as the "double-minority effect.” However, this intersection also fosters resilience and a unique perspective on gender and sexuality, with many neurodivergent people reporting a different understanding of societal gender norms. In this session, Charlie Alfarah, Associate Director of DEI at Mediaocean, will explore the intersection of LGBTQ+ and disabled identities, as well as ways employers can be mindful and supportive to ensure these individuals experience inclusion and belonging in the workplace.
